2019 Goals: Update

At the beginning of this year, I decided to set some goals for myself. I decided that in order to keep myself accountable this year, I was going to do a follow up to see where I am at in the middle of the year. Now that it is June, I feel that this is the perfect time to reflect back and see how much progress I made.

Social Goals

More IG Stories – okay so I can definitely say I have gotten way better at this. My goal was to post once a week and I definitely post at least once a week; so far so good on this one.

Revamp my website – this one is not doing as good. I have completely neglected my blog, so this will be on my agenda for the remainder of the year. I have stories that are drafted and ideas I want to write about so I am hoping to start writing more consistently. So more content to come soon 🙂

Travel Goals

Explore more of Chicago – I definitely have been exploring quite a bit of Chicago and I am constantly discovering new things and places. Now that it is finally summer, aka the best time to be in Chicago, I will make this even more of a priority. Also, there will definitely be more blog posts to come out on Chicago.

One out of country trip – so not only have I completed this but I exceeded it. My first out of country trip was to Mexico back in February. In May, I went on my annual mother daughter trip with my mom and we decided on Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I do not have any plans at the moment to go anywhere else out of country, but hey you never know.

One in country trip – this still hasn’t occurred but I will be going to LA and Scottsdale in August, so this one will definitely be met. I am hoping to even make my way somewhere in the fall but that is up in the air.

One solo trip – still no plans on this. I hope to accomplish this one but I am not sure how feasible it will be this year. Maybe I can do something in the fall. Any suggestions?

Personal Goals

Exercise more and eat healthier – I am pretty proud of this one because I really have been more mindful of eating healthier and exercising more. Now that is not to say that I still don’t eat pizza and indulge, but I think it is a good step towards making a change in my lifestyle.

Take better care of my skin – I have been better about this as well. I take more into consideration what the products are made of that I put on my skin and have been a lot better on making sure I take off my makeup before bed. I also started taking collagen which I think has helped a lot and I have noticed a difference in my skin and nails.

Make more time for myself – this will forever be a working progress, but I have improved so much in this domain. I am staring to realize more and more that I need the time to myself and that I can’t please everyone. I make sure to have time for myself every week and say no to more plans which has made me feel happier overall. I used to overbook myself and would almost have something to do every night of the week and it put a lot of stress on me. This will still be a working progress but I can happily say that this has improved tremendously.

Miscellaneous Goals

Finish a series of a show – still working on this one haha. Surprisingly, stuff like this is so much harder for me because I am not someone who can binge watch the same show for a long time. That is why I am always watching multiple shows and starting new ones. But, I am currently on a roll to finish out Gilmore Girls and I am confident this will be done by the end of the year.

Read at least 3 books this year – this is another one that is harder for me. I genuinely like to read but I feel like I don’t always have the energy for it, so I tend to be a slower reader. I really am trying to make this more of a priority, and have read two book so far and have started my third. As far as this goal goes, I think I am on track to get even more than three in (fingers crossed)

So there you have it; there is still some work to do but I feel good about where I am at. I feel that writing this down made me feel so much more accountable for these goals and now following up on them makes me proud and excited to continue working towards them.

How are you doing on your goals for the year? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Happy Travels – xoxo Dre ❤
