Puerto Vallarta Travel Guide

Mexico is the perfect vacation getaway and I think many of you that have been can agree. Not only is the weather always perfect, there is so much to do and of course the best part…TACOSSS!

Now I have only been to Puerto Vallarta, so I cannot speak on all of Mexico, but if they are anything close to Puerto Vallarta then they must be amazing. Below is my travel guide to some of my suggestions on things to do in this amazing destination.

Where to stay: Club Regina Puerto Vallarta
Honestly any where you stay in Puerto Vallarta is going to be pretty great. There are tons of hotels to choose from and any location will give you plenty to do. I stayed over by the Puerto Vallarta Marina and I absolutely loved it. I was still close to the downtown area, but also had so much to do around me. My resort was more of an apartment style which I really enjoyed because although it is really nice to have an all-inclusive resort, sometimes I like being able to eat in the comfort of my resort room and have lots of food options. I love being able to try all kinds of food especially when visiting a new place, so I usually do not go for an all inclusive resort unless I am specifically looking for that kind of trip. The resort was beautiful and had its own beach, a few restaurants, and two huge pools. Along side that, they had many activities, such as water sports, beach volleyball and yoga and other fitness activities. I highly recommend it and was very happy with my stay there.

Where to eat: Everywhere!!
Mexico hands down had some of the best tasting food I have had on a trip thus far. Everything that I had tried, from the tropical drinks, to the sizzling fajitas, the pizza, the seafood; was absolutely incredible. Below are some recommended spots based on the food quality, the service and the location of the restaurants.

Victor’s Place – Puerto Vallarta Marina
Hands down my favorite restaurant in Puerto Vallarta that I had the pleasure of going to. Not only are the views and the food amazing, but the service is what makes this place so great. You are greeted by some of the friendliest and most outgoing people I have met. They treat you to some tequila shots and the owner comes by and takes some with you. In addition, they even give you some free dessert. Make sure to have a margarita, they were delicious. Also, expect to get a buzz here because of all the free shots πŸ˜‰

Porto Bello – Puerto Vallarta Marina
Also located in the same area as Victor’s, this restaurant was perfect for people watching and for more of a serene atmosphere. They have a cute patio that overlooks the marina and their food was amazing. Highly recommended for more of a romantic or chill dinner experience.

La Palapa – Downtown
Sitting and eating dinner on a beach is your kind of thing? Well me too πŸ™‚ Make sure to check out La Palapa. This place provides views upon views. You can choose to sit right by the ocean on the beach and enjoy your seafood right by the sea or sit by the boardwalk and take in all that Puerto Vallarta has to offer.

What to do:

Farmer’s Market at the Marina
The farmer’s market is only on Thursday evenings and it a must if you want to find some of the local goods. Not only is there live music at some of the restaurants alongside the marina, but you get to experience the local culture by browsing all the market has to offer. The best part as well, is all the local food! Although, the marina offers some of the best restaurants, I would recommend skipping dinner that night and trying out the local fares as well as the dessert.

All of downtown
Downtown Puerto Vallarta is vibrant and full of life. You can hit up all the delicious restaurants, go buy some souvenirs or better yet Tequila ;), or just take a walk on the beach. The best part, there are plenty of local street food vendors that I recommend trying out especially if you are not looking for a sit down dining experience. Downtown is fun for all ages and there are plenty of street acts to keep you entertained as you make your way through. And if you are a party animal, the nightlife is pretty great too (make sure to check out the famous Senor Frogs).

Fun in the sun
Puerto Vallarta is home to some really nice beaches and there are plenty of fun beach activities to do. Snorkeling is a must and I recommend it in any tropical location. Go parasailing and get an amazing view of the coast or rent out a boat and enjoy the ride. And don’t forget to catch a sunset or two because they are incredible.

With plenty to do and see, Puerto Vallarta is the perfect getaway for all ages and all types of travelers.
