Venice is by far one of the most magical places I’ve been to. The whole city is surrounded by water, beautiful buildings and incredible views. I just happened to be lucky enough to be able to go during one of the greatest times of the year, Carnevale Di Venezia. It is a festival that happens every year in February and it is filled with parades, music, great food, and of course masks.
There is just something so special and unforgettable about the city of Venice. It is small and your only way of transportation is by water. If you are like me and you love the water and boats, then this might be your dream destination.
The main island in Venice is called Saint Marco Island and that is where the Carnevale was held. Walking throughout all the little alley streets was wonderful. If you are into shopping and finding unique items, Venice has a lot to offer. Do keep in mind that the shops tend to be on the pricier side for some. If you are interested in purchasing your own Venetian mask, which I highly recommend because they are STUNNING, make sure you do not get ahead of yourself and purchase the first one you see. There are shops on almost every street and you will for sure find your perfect match.
The Carnevale was my main attraction during my visit to Venice. The city was so vibrant and full of life, it was an incredible sight to see. There was music playing everywhere, street performers, and everyone was dressed up. It was like this awesome Halloween Party all over Venice. Naturally, I had to partake in the festivities and bought myself a beautiful mask and did a little bit of dancing in the main square. The nice part was that it wasn’t overwhelming. If you wanted to step away and really embrace the city, just walk through one of the beautiful streets and you will find yourself in fairy tale. The canals and the water and everything just felt magical. You could spends hours just walking around and exploring. It was truly a remarkable experience.
Venice is one of those cities that will take your breath away and I hope to be back again someday preferably without a winter jacket.
Happy Travels – xoxo Dre ❤
